Nuclear Transport at Small Excitations: Thermal and Quantal Aspects

نویسنده

چکیده

The application of the locally harmonic approximation to large scale collective motion is brieey reviewed. Particular emphasis is paid to issues which might be useful in the more general context, or which are speciic to our treatment, like there are: Self-consistency between collective and intrinsic motion, a T dependent coupling constant, the inclusion of quantum eeects for the dynamics of uctuations. Finally, open problems are addressed, like the use of thermodynamic concepts at smaller excitations, the ergodic-ity question, the variation of transport coeecients with the nuclear shape due to shell structure, the limits of the LHA at smaller T .

On nuclear transport at small excitations

Numerical computations of transport coefficients at low temperatures are presented for shapes typically encountered in nuclear fission. The influence of quantum effects of the nucleonic degrees of freedom is examined, with pair correlations included. Consequences for global collective motion are studied for the case of the decay rate. The range of temperatures is specified above which this moti...

Quantum Fluctuation Effects on Nuclear Multifragmentation

The e ects of quantum uctuations are studied by using the recently developed Quantal Langevin model. It is shown that we can understand various thermal and dynamical aspects of nuclear matter, such as the caloric curve, fragment mass distribution in a thermal environment, and abundant IMF productions in Au+Au collisions in a consistent and microscopic way by taking account of the inherent energ...

A detailed derivation of the collisional widths of collective vibrations is presented in both quantal and semi-classical frameworks by considering the linearized limits of the extended TDHF and the BUU model with a non-Markovian binary collision term. Damping widths of giant dipole and giant quadrupole excitations are calculated by employing an effective Skyrme force, and the results are compar...
